Where it all began

Established in Woodstock on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Milton, owners Joanne and Dan Johnson started Woodstock Chocolate Co with some homegrown produce and a love of fine food.

Woodstock is a small family run business with a focus on combining the best local produce with the highest quality Belgian couverture chocolate.

Founder Story

I grew up partly on a farm in the Hunter Valley and dreamt of having my own little farm one day, maybe a cow and some chickens.   

In 2019, I came to Milton looking for that dream. This historic town sitting on the ridge of the hill looking out to sea; still a farming community amongst glorious beaches and restaurants. 

I didn’t buy a farm. I bought a chocolate shop instead. A little slice of magic, only seven years old, but loved by locals. A little daunting to be honest, to keep the magic going that Jo and Dan created. 

It’s hard to put into words what makes Woodstock Chocolate Co. so special. Not just the finest Belgian chocolate shop in the cutest town, but also uniquely local.   

We have an amazing team at Woodstock Chocolate Co. – Ellie, Penny, Lou, Olivia, Danyah, Fiene, Ever, Hannah and Dan too. We don’t just make the best chocolate honeycomb you’ve ever had. We make cows- Angus, Hereford, Friesians and even belted Galloways. So now, as we drive or cycle past fields of cows on our way to and from work, I am a farmer of chocolate cows.
